STARTING WITH A FEELING

What Happens When You Design a Website Like an Event

The Detail has a brand new website and we couldn't be prouder. Read all about our process and how we designed our site in the same way we design our events: by putting 'feeling' first.

For a while, The Detail has simply existed through recommendations, events and experiences. No website, just carefully curated social platforms and well designed decks.

That wasn't because we didn't believe in having one. We just knew that when the time came, it had to feel like us and convey who we are as a brand.

We needed a home that wasn’t just a functional sales tool but a place to showcase the heart and soul we put into our work. Because at The Detail, every event begins with a feeling. Before the guest list, before the menu, before the venue styling, we think about atmosphere. How do we want people to feel when they arrive? What will capture their attention? What details will stay with them long after they've left?

When we began creating our website, we approached it in exactly the same way.

We began with a moodboard.

We collected references from the worlds of art, culture, interiors and design. We thought about movement and flow, exploring how a digital experience could convey the same sense of curiosity and wonder that is part of every event we create.

The moodboard developed into a brief. But first we needed a creative partner who would immerse themselves into our world and we found that in Olive Tree Productions. Having worked with them on numerous occasions, understood the brief immediately and started searching for the perfect web developer.

Enter Lauren at Wiggle Creative.

From our earliest conversations, Lauren understood that this could not be a standard website. She embraced our love of design, culture and storytelling and thanks to her technical expertise, she transformed a collection of ideas into something tangible and beautiful.

We knew early on that animation would be a key part of our website, which is another reason why we partnered with Lauren. Animation appears on every page, but nowhere is more evident than on our Philosophy page.

As event designers, we think constantly about the senses. They are the foundation of every experience we create, so we wanted to bring that thinking into the digital world.

As visitors explore the page, each sense is accompanied by its own animation. Hover over Taste and tiny champagne bubbles rise to the surface. Discover Sound and birdsong appears. These moments are small, but they reflect our entire approach to design, so it was incredible to be able to incorporate them digitally and really convey who we are and what we stand for.

Throughout the whole process, Olive Tree Productions were by our side.  They consulted on every page to ensure the flow worked without compromising on the user experience. They helped project manage every stage of the development were essential to making this dream a reality. They also created a beautiful video that captures our salon style events at The South Wing, our studio and location house.

Designing for Wonder

Today, our website officially launches and we're proud to share the result.

Every animation, interaction and hidden detail has been considered with the same care we bring to our events. Because whether we're designing a digital experience or an intimate gathering, our goal is always the same: to create moments that resonate.

Wonder doesn't happen by accident. It's created through thoughtful design, careful curation and attention to detail.

And our website is the perfect expression of this belief.
